ADT Teach
The lack of infrastructure and support in disadvantaged schools means that many high schools do not have the ability to teach Information Technology. ADT Teach is a programme which gives disadvantaged learners a much-needed opportunity to learn vital computer skills. Hundreds of learners at disadvantaged schools in Cape Town and Johannesburg townships became the first to benefit from the initiative which takes trainers and computers into schools.
This skills development programme aims to help address unemployment. ADT interviews over 1 000 job seekers nationally every month, the majority of whom don’t have the most basic of skills and are therefore functionally unemployable. The Teach programme provides skills that can take learners out of this group and offer them the chance to better their lives whether in the job market or at tertiary education level.
Soweto Hospice
Each year ADT hosts a charity golf day to raise much-needed funds for the Soweto Hospice which relies almost exclusively on donations from corporates. Over the past five years, ADT has been able to provide close to R400 000 to this much-needed facility where patients can consult a doctor, enjoy the company of other patients, learn handwork skills and share a nourishing meal. Trained community care workers support the Hospice team by helping to visit and care for patients at home.
ADT is proud to support worthwhile initiatives such as this and so contribute to the communities in which we operate.

Mr ADT is an ideal way for children to learn safe habits. It’s offered to all schools who wish to participate, at no cost.
