Response Officer Nabs Thief in Kraaifontein
Posted: 9 March 2010
Thanks to the quick response of an armed response officer a thief was apprehended in Kraaifontein on 25 February 2010.
Around 06:15 on Thursday morning Wendy van Dyk heard a suspicious noise and went to investigate: "At first I thought it was homeless people digging in the garbage bin outside, but then I thought that the noise was too close to my house. I went into the spare room and when I opened the curtain I saw a man standing near the braai," said Van Dyk.
"I quickly ran to check that the security gate between the braai room and kitchen was locked and then pushed the panic button," said Van Dyk.
ADT Armed Response Officer Graham Williams responded to the call: "I was in Kraaifontein industrial area when I dispatched to Emily Close. When I arrived the client informed me that the suspect was in the backyard."
"I searched the premises and found nothing. I looked over the neighbours wall and saw him. I jumped over the wall and apprehended the suspect hiding in the braai area," said Williams. The police arrived and the suspect was taken to the Kraaifontein police station.
Van Dyk said: "I am very impressed with ADT and the police who responded very quickly to my call. Officer Williams even stayed with me until the last police van left."
Rob Dale, Regional Managing Director of ADT Security Western Cape said: "Well done to Officer Williams for his swift action in apprehending the suspect. We would like to encourage all clients to regularly test their alarm systems and panic buttons as a way to ensure proper functionality in the event of an emergency."
