Situation
This is the largest U.S. banks with a network of several thousands of branches and ATMs as well as hundreds of mortgage offices. Growth through acquisitions created a patchwork of disparate legacy alarm systems. An internal bank security audit recommended that these systems be upgraded and standardised to improve security and reduce costs.
Solution
This bank turned to ADT to implement a common alarm reporting platform throughout its network of offices. Dedicated project teams from ADT coordinated the massive job of upgrading, programming/testing and activating this platform in about 1,500 bank sites over an 18-month period. The first step was to determine which alarm technology could communicate via the bank’s network and provide a standard for future upgrades and expansions. Design specifications included open architecture scalability, IP compatibility and 80 hours of battery backup.
Results
By completing the alarm system upgrades six months ahead of schedule, ADT helped save the bank significant operational costs. ADT’s project management worked to eliminate the need for dedicated phone lines for security transactions, which cut telecommunication expenses by an estimated amount of over $1 million. The 90-95 percent customer satisfaction ratings earned from the bank’s security team reflects ADT’s commitment to support its customer’s needs.
