A Brief History Of ADT

ADT Security was first called The American District Telegraph (ADT) Company. It was established in 1874 with the installation of telegraphic call boxes in the homes or offices of subscribers.

The call box brought a messenger to the subscriber's premises to collect a message to be sent by telegraph. Messengers often performed other errands too. This service was soon refined to a security service and ADT Fire & Security was born. This subsequently  lead to the development of ADT security alarm systems.

Developing ADT Fire & Security Services

Since then, we’ve done a lot of research and development. Thorough training, a professional approach to business and ongoing technological developments,  have established ADT Fire & Security as the world's number one provider of Electronic Security Protection.

Through a comprehensive network of Alarm Receiving Centres, ADT monitors corporate and private systems worldwide. The increased use of ADT security systems worldwide makes us larger than any other security organisation.

Founded in 1960, Tyco International acquired the worldwide operations of ADT Security in 1998 and quickly established themselves as the world's premier Fire and Security Services Provider.
