Alert neighbour helps save the day

Posted: 7 December 2009

When two suspects climbed over the wall and attempted to break into a house in Helderkruin recently, an alert neighbour spotted the suspects and pressed his panic button, alerting ADT Security.

ADT Reaction Officers Jappie Motebe and W Mooketsi and the South African Police Services (SAPS) arrived on the scene. While the officers were checking the premises, one of the suspects climbed over the wall into the neighbour´s property and hid in a dog kennel in an attempt to escape. Motebe pursued the suspect over the wall and apprehended him in the neighbouring property. Meanwhile Mooketsi had apprehended the other suspect as he too tried to flee the scene.

Nothing was stolen from the property and both suspects were handed over to the local South African Police Service (SAPS).

“It´s good to see neighbours looking out for each other and assisting ADT catch these criminals,” said Roy Rawlins, Managing Director, ADT Johannesburg. “The more community involvement, the better. We all need to work together to bring crime to an end.”
