A private security officer has been praised for his vigilance which led to the arrest of a suspected thief. The suspect is now in police custody.
Fidelity ADT Security Officer, Zethembe Ntobela, was on patrol in Vause Road when he spotted a suspect running down the road towards King Dinuzulu Road. Officer Ntobela immediately pressed his panic button to notify armed response and gave chase.
“All our Fidelity ADT security guards have access to our armed response vehicles in case of emergencies. By activating their panic button, armed response backup is immediately deployed,” explains District Community Development Manager for Fidelity ADT KwaZulu-Natal, Rian Buys.
Officer Ntobela successfully apprehended the suspect and on searching him, discovered several stolen items. The suspect was handed over for arrest to members of the Berea South African Police Service (SAPS).
“We are proud of Zethembe’s vigilance and dedication. He has been involved in this area for some time now, and has truly become an integral part of the community. This is a true reflection of the value that a localised foot patrol guard can add to the overall safety of a community,” concluded Buys.
