A state of the art CCTV system has been installed in Campher’s Drift, in an effort to improve security in this George suburb.
“Project leader Toelie Barnard approached us for help, as he was concerned at the crime situation in the area. There was particular concern about reports of a local park being used for drugs and other related unwanted activity,” explains Steven Green, Garden Route branch manager at Fidelity ADT.
A plan was developed to bulk up security in the suburb, which led to the installing of a CCTV security camera system.
“The camera now serves as a surveillance station which monitors all the activities. The CCTV camera is strategically placed to maximize the security efficacy and reduce crime,” says Green.
“We have already seen a reduction in criminal activities within a short space of time, and it’s incredible to see what a difference such a camera can make in terms of creating awareness and increasing visibility.”
He adds that his colleagues have joined several community committees in recent months, to help strengthen local security efforts in other parts of the Garden Route.
“We have to work with each other, no matter who we are or where we live. It is this kind of ‘team work’ that ultimately will make a positive difference in our suburbs and make them ‘no go zones’ for crime,” says Green.
