Saint Giles Association for the Disabled has thanked the staff of a local private security company for their support as part of celebrating Mandela Day.
A team of staff from Fidelity ADT brought cake and tinned food for the disabled remedial gym patients and the work centre staff. They spent the morning handing out cake and touring the facilities at Saint Giles.
“Saint Giles is a platform that creates numerous opportunities for those in need of specialised treatment for injuries and other disabilities. As a non-profit organisation we rely on donations from the public and other self-generating initiatives to fund the facility’s expenses, staff salaries, medical supplies and so forth,” explains Terrie Rennie, Saint Giles Managing Director.
Saint Giles employs disabled staff that work on a supply chain assembly concept for large corporations, providing these individuals with a salary and allowing them the opportunity to make a significant contribution to society.
“They atmosphere at Saint Giles is fantastic with a high work ethic, enthusiasm and a pure enjoyment for what they do,” says Fidelity ADT’s District Manager for KwaZulu-Natal, Ivan Govender.
Lynette Fendt from Fidelity Security Services coordinated all arrangements for the initiative and was delighted by the experience. “It was both a humbling and wonderfully inspiring experience to be able to spend some time with the members of Saint Giles. Their enthusiasm and genuine love was very touching, and it was wonderful to get a glimpse of what they do on a daily basis,” concluded Fendt.
