During July, Fidelity Security Group stood together to collectively make a difference for Mandela Day.
Members of Fidelity Security Services stood together with Fidelity ADT to take part in a variety of initiatives. Across South Africa, employees were given the opportunity to not only donate to a good cause, but also to spend some quality time with charity organisations.
“The Fidelity Security Group is passionate about giving back to our communities and realise the importance of corporate social responsibility. This year we decided to get behind Mandela Day with our Fidelity Foundation serving as the cornerstone for identifying and donating much needed goods to various charity organisations across our national footprint,” says Group Corporate Affairs Director, Nonhlanhla Ndwandwe.
In the Gauteng region, the Fidelity Security Services and Fidelity ADT offices donated food parcels and blankets to charity organisations such as Humana People to People in South Africa and Child Aid in Doornkop, Soweto.
“This organisation gained much needed support for basic requirements such as food for their feeding schemes and blankets to keep them warm during winter. It is incredible to see the large amount of generosity shown by organisations such as these and their staff, hence it made sense for us to capitalize on the opportunity to recognise their efforts and show our appreciation,” explains Ndwandwe.
It was heart-warming to see staff members serving food to the elderly, playing sports with the children from the orphanages, preparing meals and even taking part in some singing activities and face painting.
Fidelity ADT staff also invited two families of armed response officers who had lost their lives in the line of duty, and some who have been placed on disability, to commemorate Mandela Day as well as remember their loved ones. Lunch was served, grocery hampers were given to the families and toy hampers for the children.
“The Fidelity Security Group realizes the importance of finding a balance between people, planet and profit, and these initiatives help us to make a difference in the lives of other people. I would like to thank all our staff members for getting involved, especially the organising committees who drove these initiatives in their respective regions,” says Ndwandwe.
