One of the key elements of any security company’s service to its customers, is the strength of their monitoring centre. Hermanus is well-placed in this regard, with a state-of-the-art monitoring facility based in town, backed up by other centres around the country.
“We have invested extensively in our monitoring capacity to make sure that any phone call or alarm signal is responded to, in the most efficient way possible. Our network of monitoring centres are set up in such a way that if one is out of commission for whatever reason, the other centres pick up the workload without any disruption,” says Marius Boshoff, Hermanus Branch Manager at Fidelity ADT.
The Fidelity ADT Hermanus Control room was first established back in 1993 and was one of the first monitoring centres in the Overstrand region. In 2008, the monitoring centre underwent a total upgrade and was rebuilt in its current location inside the Fidelity ADT offices at the Mussel Centre. The control room consists of a team of six rotational controllers dealing with thousands of alarm signals every month.
“The people of Hermanus have the best of both worlds,” says Boshoff. “They benefit from locally based controllers who understand the town and its culture, while also enjoying the advantage of a national monitoring network with industry leading technology.”
The Fidelity ADT Monitoring Centre is the only South African Intruder Detection Services Association (SAIDSA) approved facility in the greater Overstrand area. It also has back-up contingencies available in the form of generators and uninterrupted power supplies, enabling the facility to function without interruption.
“The Monitoring Centre is a key pillar in the fight against crime as it receives and shares information with our Fidelity ADT officers, the SAPS, Hermanus Public Protection and local neighbourhood watches, and the general community,” says Boshoff.
