Social media and a sophisticated monitoring centre helped to break up a brawl in Mount Croix recently, and prevented the situation from potentially becoming a lot worse.
“One of the monitoring centre team members at the Community Information Centre (CIC) picked up a call for help from a neighbourhood watch member last Friday evening, describing how two men were reportedly involved in a violent brawl on the corner of Bradshaw and Bayview Streets. CIC controller Senobia van Rensburg realized that a speedy response was essential, and immediately dispatched armed response officers to investigate,” explains Ryan Britz, Port Elizabeth branch manager for Fidelity ADT.
The CIC was set up by Fidelity ADT three years ago, and is hosted at their offices in Port Elizabeth. It acts as a main contact point and community response centre for PE and surrounding towns.
Fidelity ADT armed response officers Sean Carelse and Marco Heugh arrived at the scene in Mount Croix within minutes, and managed to break up the brawl.
“The local patroller commended Fidelity ADT for their quick response and intervention,” says Britz.
“I would also like to add my appreciation for everyone who helped break up this fight. It shows how important a facility such as the CIC is to keep the people of our region safe. Modern technology backed up by dedicated and hardworking monitoring centre team members, security officers and neighbourhood watch members – all of this combined is a guaranteed recipe for success.”
