Stolen goods were recovered and a suspect was arrested, following a recent business robbery in Kensington.
“One of our armed response officers was on patrol along Harrower Road when he noticed suspicious activity at a business premises further down the road. On further inspection he noticed that one of the building’s doors appeared to have been forced open,” says Ryan Britz, Port Elizabeth branch manager for Fidelity ADT.
The officer, he adds, stopped a safe distance away to keep the building under supervision while he called for backup.
“Our officers know that large commercial properties are too big to search on their own. With the aid of a colleague, our officer was able to gain entry through an open door which led to the discovery of an unidentified suspect,” says Britz.
The building’s security company as well as SAPS were alerted via the Community Information Centre. The suspect was taken into custody, and the items that he had allegedly tried to steal were recovered.
“Well done to our officers for their quick response in this case, even if it wasn’t one of our customers’ building. When it comes to the fight against crime, we are all on the same team. It is only when we all work together and support each other – the SAPS, all armed response companies, neighborhood watches and the public – that we will be as safe as possible,” says Britz.
