Cherry Wood Estate welcomes additional security measures

Cherry Wood Estate in Wyebank, Kloof recently received a security boost after partnering with Fidelity ADT on a security project to increase their safety measures.

“Following several discussions with community leader, Maxwell Shangase, as well as the residents and our team, we were able to present a tailored security solution to adequately secure their complex. This involved careful and strategic planning from our community development manager, Wiseman Nene who managed to provide a viable solution to their crime concerns whilst also taking into consideration their budget for the proposed security measures,” says Fidelity ADT’s district manager for KwaZulu-Natal, Vaughan Pillay.

The Cherry Wood Estate implemented a CCTV camera, sponsored by Fidelity ADT, to assist in monitoring potential criminal activity within the estate. This camera serves as a warning to criminals and highlights the fact that they are being watched. This camera was erected after a number of residents signed up with the private security company.

“CCTV cameras are effective deterrents to crime and can serve as a critical tool in supplying evidence or tracking criminal behaviour. These cameras continue to be an effective way to protect communities and we have implemented several of these in various neighbourhoods across Durban. We are hoping to launch a second camera at the Cherry Wood Estate within the next few months,” Pillay added.

The residents also opted for the Fidelity ADT guarding division to look after the estate which means that along with the camera, the estate is now also protected by the Fidelity ADT guards who are responsible for the safety and security of residents as well as the estate’s access control. The security guards are also able to call for backup in case of an emergency or for medical response from Netcare 911 if needed. In addition, the guards have direct access to the Fidelity ADT armed response team, resulting in a holistic security approach.

“We have been able to offer communities various solutions that incorporate all areas of security including medical response and other benefits. These benefits are at no additional cost to our customers and are all value added services, exclusive to Fidelity ADT customers. We remain committed to keeping residents safe and giving them the best possible service. We are delighted with our partnership with Cherry Wood Estate and look forward to growing this relationship from strength to strength,” concluded Pillay.
