Residents of Claremont should keep the contact details of their armed response companies and the SAPS saved on their phones, so that they can quickly and easily raise the alarm in case of an emergency. It follows the arrest of a suspect on Struben Road on Sunday night (7 June 2020, at approx. 18h06).
“A customer contacted our Monitoring Centre to ask that armed response be dispatched, after an unidentified suspect jumped the wall onto his property. The suspect was reportedly armed with a knife and a spade,” explains Mr Jade Hanning, Cape Town South district manager at Fidelity ADT.
When the officer arrived at the address, the customer gave a detailed description of the wall jumper. This information helped the officer to patrol the area and quickly track down a suspect walking down Sidmouth Road that matched the description.
“Our officer apprehended the suspect before handing him over into the custody of Claremont SAPS. Please keep the details of the Claremont SAPS, your security company and the neighborhood watch saved on your cellphone so that you can quickly get hold of us in an emergency,” says Mr Hanning.
