The Forest Hill Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) recently received a welcome donation from a local private security company after a community signboard was donated.
“We work closely with the Forest Hill NHW team and continuously look to find new ways in which we can support them. We discussed the possibility of a community signboard with the NHW Chairman, Ian Bezuidenhout and his team, and made the arrangements to get this done,” says Fidelity ADT branch manager for Port Elizabeth, Ryan Britz.
Visibility in community safety is a key element of a successful campaign, as it serves as a deterrent to any would-be criminals. This includes patrols or officers on streets, as well as signage that indicates the presence of local community projects.
“The new signboard not only serves as a warning to criminals but also provides valuable peace of mind and useful info to members of the community,” Britz added.
The signboard includes the logos of all role-players in the area and has the CIC contact number which helps to proactively report anything suspicious. The 086 12 12 210 number is linked to the Community Information Centre (CIC), a control room at the Fidelity ADT premises that serves the greater Port Elizabeth community.
“The CIC receives hundreds of calls each week and has become a reliable tool for all residents within our beautiful city,” says Britz.
