Suspect arrested after Grassy Park house break-in

Team-work by two local armed response officers helped ensure that a suspect was arrested, shortly after he and an accomplice allegedly broke into a home on First Road in Grassy Park (Wednesday 22 January 2020, at around 13h24).

“We received an alarm signal from the home and deployed an armed response officer to investigate. When he arrived at the address, he noticed two unknown men jumping out of an open window and running away,” says Mr Jade Hanning, Cape Town South district manager at Fidelity ADT.

“Our officer alerted the Fidelity ADT Monitoring Centre to send backup, while he pursued the suspects.”

A fellow armed response colleague was on patrol close by, and he monitored this call for backup. Using the information and description of the suspects provided, he was able to soon locate two men fitting the description.

“The suspects tried to run away but one was successfully apprehended and handed over into police custody. He will be charged with housebreaking and theft,” says Mr Hanning.
