Security officers on duty in the Cape Town CBD nabbed a suspect early on Saturday morning, after he allegedly tried to force his way into a local fast-food outlet. The apprehension happened when the suspect reportedly returned to that same outlet.
“Our officers received reports of a suspect that had tried to force open the doors of a local chicken fast-food outlet on Adderley Street at around 6am. A description of the suspect was shared with all officers on duty in the area, and the search started in earnest,” says Mr Jade Hanning, Cape Town South district manager at Fidelity ADT.
Security officers continued a search around the Adderley Street and Strand Street precinct, and also spoke to possible eyewitnesses and passersby to ask if they had seen the alleged suspect.
“One vendor told our officers that he had noticed someone matching that description moving towards the fast-food outlet. The suspect was spotted and apprehended close to the same store he had earlier tried to get access to,” says Mr Hanning.
Police were called to the scene to take the suspect into custody, after he was also positively identified by staff members at the fast-food outlet.
