A suspect was arrested by police shortly after allegedly stealing two cell-phones from a house in Hermanus Heights.
Hermanus Public Protection (HPP) received a call on Thursday 9 August 2018, describing how a well-known housebreaking suspect had allegedly just stolen two cell-phones from an address in Selkirk Street. HPP is staffed and managed by Fidelity ADT.
“One of our HPP officers realized that he noticed the alleged suspect a short while earlier at a local filling station, and went back to that venue. When he arrived he spotted the suspect exiting the shop,” explains Marius Boshoff, Hermanus branch manager for Fidelity ADT.
The suspect was apprehended and two cell-phones were found in his possession. He was taken to the local police station, while the complainant was also asked to come to the station. The suspect was positively identified.
“Well done to everyone involved in this arrest. I urge residents to immediately contact HPP if they need assistance, so that security officers can be deployed before suspects get away,” says Boshoff.
The HPP team meanwhile also assisted with the arrest of three other suspects recently. In one incident, a suspect was apprehended shortly after stealing items from a parked car in North Cliff. In the second incident, two suspects were arrested at the Blow Hole when they were caught red-handed with drugs and a dangerous weapon.
