Two private security officers have been praised for their vigilance and compassion after recently reuniting a missing bird with it’s owner.
A Kloof resident based in Ridge Road lost her pet cockatiel over the weekend after it flew away on Saturday, 6th July in the morning.
“The poor customer was heartbroken after her pet bird went missing and informed one of our armed response officers about the incident and requested that the officers please keep an eye out for the bird whilst doing their patrols,” explained Vaughan Pillay, KwaZulu-Natal District Manager for Fidelity ADT.
On Sunday morning Armed Response Officers, Ntokozo Magwaza and Philani Shange were doing their patrols in the Kloof area when they spotted a bird on the side of the road that matched the description given to them by the resident. The two officers managed to carefully capture the bird before it could fly away.
“It turned out to be a very different apprehension to what they are used to. Our officers are often involved in helping the community by doing so much more than just responding to alarm activations. Our officers not only assist with dangerous crime-related matters but also help out with security at community events, rescuing of lost animals and assisting in medical emergency situations. They often go beyond the call of duty to not only serve our customers but the communiy at large. We are extremely proud of both officer Magwaza and Shange for their efforts in finding the missing bird and reuniting it with it’s owner,” Pillay added.
The missing cokatiel was safely returned to it’s owner who was understandably delighted to have her beloved pet back home safely.
