A Umtentweni private security officer has been praised for his vigilance which led to the arrest of two suspected thieves who are now in police custody.
Fidelity ADT Armed Response Officer (ARO), Tstusha Sinethemba, recently noticed three suspicious individuals exiting bushes and awkwardly carrying heavy bags and immediately called for backup before approaching the suspects.
“Our Fidelity ADT officers go through vigorous and ongoing training to ensure that they are capable of dealing with any kind of emergency situation. We pride ourselves on our officers’ competence and ability to deliver proactive services of an excellent standard,” says Fidelity ADT’s District Manager for KwaZulu-Natal, Ivan Govender.
As soon as ARO Sinethemba approached the suspects they dropped the bags and fled on foot. ARO Sinethemba gave chase and managed to apprehend two of the three suspects.
Armed response backup and the Port Shepstone South African Police Service (SAPS) arrived within minutes and the suspects were handed over for arrest. Both men confessed to stealing several items from properties in Stapleton and Umdoni Road.
“I am proud of the officer’s vigilance which ensured that two thieves have now been placed behind bars. The collective efforts of our armed response officers and guards are unquestionably making a positive contribution to the fight against crime in the Port Shepstone and surrounding areas,” concludes Govender.
