Business and home owners in Hermanus have been urged to consider installing security beams in their roofs and ceilings, following a recent arrest carried out in town.
“We have noticed an increase in incidents where we respond to robberies in which suspects appeared to have gained access to the property through the roof,” says Fidelity ADT branch manager in Hermanus, Marius Boshoff.
In the most recent incident (on Friday 19 October 2018), Fidelity ADT responded to an alarm activation at a shop in Swartdam Road. Three suspects are alleged to have tried to gain access to the shop through its roof.
“The response to this alarm was quick and well-coordinated, with another Fidelity ADT armed response vehicle and the SAPS soon joining our officer who initially responded. This led to the three suspects being apprehended and taken into custody,” says Boshoff.
He reminded all Hermanus property owners to test their security systems today, to make sure they are working properly and while there is still enough time for repairs to be done before the festive season rush starts.
“The holidays are just around the corner. Give yourself the gift of peace of mind, with the knowledge that your property is well looked after, whether you will be staying at home or enjoying a get-away.”
